Vibrant Farm is located in Laporte, Minnesota and carries a mission to provide healthy, nutrient-dense produce to Northern Minnesota communities. Their desire is to connect with people and be apart of a bigger purpose.

During the winter, their contributions to the co-op includes a variety of fresh shoots and mircrogreens. In the summer, Vibrant Farm provides other fresh produce, such as cherry tomatoes, radishes, cucumbers, and more to Harmony Co-op. Did you know that when you spend $1 on a local product, $16 is generated within the local community?

In addition to Harmony Co-op during this winter season, Vibrant Farms provides a Micro Winter CSA (Community Support Agriculture). Where families receive a generous amount of microgreens and shoots every week. Drop off locations are in Walker and Bemidji.

Why Microgreens?

Microgreens are exactly what they sound like - micro greenery. They are sprouted from young vegetable greens and are used as a visual and flavor component or ingredient. Many chefs use microgreens to delicately enhance the attractiveness and the taste of their dishes. "Microgreen flavors range from brilliantly-colored radishes, deliciously crunchy sunflower or sweet pea shoots," according to the Vibrant Farm website.

DaNae, of Vibrant Farms, says that "With fresh shoots, you can easily add texture and a variety of different flavors. They create a natural dash of vibrant color to any dish. They can be used in soups, salads, wraps, sandwiches, smoothies, and entrees. They can also be used as a stand alone tasty salad."

Growing Community Together

In November of 2017, Harmony initiated a Core Messaging Committee that was tasked to discover the message that we want to share with the community in 2018 - a message that would resonate in everything that we do. The committee kept circling around three words that meant a lot to us: Growth. Community. Inclusivity. When seeking Harmony's 2018 shareable and relate-able message with the lens that growth, community and inclusivity provided, we identified our 2018 core message of Growing Community Together.

In honor of this mission, Harmony Foods Coop will be posting weekly product features, highlighting the brands and products that grow community with us and whenever possible we will welcome local and regional farmers in-store to sample their products.
